Ivelisse Nieves – Haute Couture Jewelry Designer
Ivelisse Nieves is a designer and entrepreneur, born in San Juan Puerto Rico.
After obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico in 1992, she attended post graduate studies in interior design and decoration in the San Juan School of Interior Design and the “Liga de Arte” in San Juan where she studied ceramic, sculpture, drawing and photography.
The designer Nieves completed advanced studies in D’Art Center for ceramic sculpture and jewelry. Her passion for jewelry began at age of seven when she loved to make clothes for dolls and made her jewelry with sea glass, wire, sea shells and resins. As people liked her work she started to elaborate accessories for selling to family and friends.
In 2003 decided to attend different courses of basic and advanced jewelry, gemology and conceptualization in New Approach School for jewelers in Virginia and others classes in Portland Oregon.
Nieves started a professional career as a jewelry designer when opened a studio in 2005 at Virginia under name of Caracoles Art and Jewels Design. Later, she incorporated Ivelisse Nieves Jewelry, INC. on September 2013. Under the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Laws.
She have sold her designs and jewelry to many people around the world.
When she returned to Puerto Rico in 2007 she was invited to join a group of visual artist in “Fusion Isleña Gallery” at Centro de Bellas Artes of Caguas Puerto Rico and also “Age Gallery” in San Juan Puerto Rico exposing her collections up to date.
In addition of participating in art shows in the country she have participated in individual fashion runways in Puerto Rico as Plazarela 2009 to 2011, Plaza Fashion Trends 2013, High Fashion Expo 2009 & 2011, The Look of the Year 2011, Gala Renal Council of PR 2010, Gala Miss Universe PR 2009 to 2011,
South Fashion Week 2010 & 2011, Spring Summer Fest 2012, International Fashion Expo VAFW 2012, Plitz New York City Fashion Week 2012, Virginia Fashion Week 2012, Puerto Rico High Fashion Week 2013, San Juan Moda 2014 (PR), New York Fashion Gallery in NY (2014), Latino Fashion Week in Chicago (2014), Latino Fashion Week in Miami (2015) among others. Also, in collective fashion runways with other fashion designers putting together jewelry collections of Rosita Hurtado (Miami, US), Bernarda Morales (Miami, US), Claudio Milano (Miami US), Samy Gicherman (Miami US), Vilma Martínez, Namibia Viera, Reinaldo Alvárez (Paris), Pipo Pere, José Karlo, Liza Thon, Emanuel Acosta, Juan Colón, Kelvin Giovanni, Joseph Da’Ponte, Jaer Cabán, Lizzy London (Virginia, US), Azi Blas (Virginia, US), Mikasa La Charles (Virginia, US), Bliyi Designer, Wilfredo Gerardo (Los Angeles), Reynaldo José Flores, Fernando Gantier, Yanira Maldonado, Norma Dominguez, among others.
One of her collections was presented internationally in the Dominican Republic Fashion Week 2010 where she had the opportunity to present “Reflections Collections” with Gantier.
In june 2013 she presented and produced her own fashion show in PR “Las Dos Fridas” jewelry collection.
Her jewelry has been used as a complement by personalities of great importance both nationally and Internationally, such as: Doris Morgado (Hollywood actress), Liz Vega (actress Miami), Isaac Reyes (actor Miami), Niurka Marcos (actress), Aleyda Ortíz (“Nuestra Belleza Latina 2014”), Cyd Marie Flemming (femele television news anchor for Univision PR channel), Ada Monzón (weather reconnaissance PR), Milly Cangiano (journalist), the renowned sexologist and writer Dr. Carmita Laboy, Dr. Evelyn Cintrón, María Rosa Silva (prestigious model and television presenter), Natalia Rivera (TV presenter and entertainer), Alexandra Fuentes (TV presenter and entertainer), Geraldine Fernandez (TV presenter and entertainer), Margarita Bernardo (model and actress), just I have designed a different queens Beauty Pageants like Miss Universe PR 2010 Mariana Vicente, Viviana Ortíz (2011), Bodine Koehler (2012), Monic Perez (2013), Gabriela Berríos (2014) among other, becoming one of the official jewelry designers of the most important beauty contest on the island Miss Universe PR and Miss Teen World of PR.
Her work has been reviewed in magazines such as: EGO, Imagen, PR Wheels, MI TV, Estilo Libre, TV Y Novelas, Super Compacto, Mujer Creativa, Más Vida, New Condado, Gcity, Balance and Contorno; Newspapers: Primera Hora, Vocero, Índice, Presencia and El Nuevo Día.
She have collaborated and interviewed by TV shows such as: EGO TV , Ellas y Tus Noches, In Fashion, Somos o No Somos, Mech Tech Racing TV, Día a Día, Entre Nosotras, Pégate Al Mediodía and Alexandra De Noche.
She has passion for her work and makes jewelry with all kind of elements and techniques. She only uses finest materials and genuine stones such as: quartz, precious and semi-precious stone (ie turquoise, amethyst, carnelian, onyx, citrine, jade, etc.), freshwater pearls, mother of pearl, Swarovski crystals, lamp-work ,vintage and venetian glass beads, precious metals such as vermeil, sterling silver .925, gold filled 10K &14K among others achievements. She emphasized individual style. As a perfectionist and particular designer, she hand make each individual piece to perfection herself out considering its design, texture, color, balance and brilliance of each piece.
Recently she introduced a private collection and “ready to wear” under the brand name of the government fashion and design incentive program known as P.ERE by: Ivelisse Nieves.
Her vision is to continue expanding her work to another markets with the highest quality craft and fashion brand that will endure over time.
